Case notes

What we found, what we did.

Real jobs, written up with photographs from the scaffold. Sample notes; yours replace them.

A stone house wrapped in scaffolding, two roofers working on the slate roof and hills behind

Recent jobs

  • A slate roof from the scaffold before repair: slipped and broken slates and moss filling the valley

    Storm damage, Ilkley · found

After the February gales: twelve slates slipped from the rear slope, the valley full of moss and a damp patch in the back bedroom ceiling. We fitted a temporary cover the same afternoon.

  • The same kind of slate roof after repair: new slates in line and fresh lead flashing dressed round the chimney

    Storm damage, Ilkley · done

Twelve reclaimed Welsh slates matched and fixed with copper tingles, the valley cleared and relined in lead, and the chimney flashing re-dressed. Two days, sample cost £1,380, photographed at each stage.

  • Gloved hands dressing new lead flashing against a stone chimney with a soft-faced mallet

    Chimney leak, Headingley

Water ran down the chimney breast in heavy rain. The old lead had split along the back gutter; new code 5 lead dressed and pointed in a day. Sample cost £520.
