How referrals work
Patients must be referred by their GP or by another specialist. Referral enquiries can be made by telephone or email.
For GPs and specialists
When referring, the referring clinician must:
- Provide the relevant background information.
- Indicate the degree of urgency and risk.
- Agree that a psychiatric opinion is warranted.
- Be prepared to follow up on the recommendations Dr Bucur makes.

For patients
Ask your GP or specialist whether a private psychiatric opinion is right for you and whether they can refer you. You can also telephone or email the practice to ask about the process — please do not include medical history.
Urgency and risk
Dr Bucur currently works part-time in the private clinic setting. Patients who need intensive support, or who present with an elevated level of risk, are advised to consider other clinical services that are more appropriate for their urgent needs and care.
Self-funding
Self-funding patients are welcome at Dr Bucur's private practice. The practice confirms consultation fees directly when you enquire; no fee schedule is published on this site.
Private medical insurance
Dr Bucur is a recognised consultant psychiatrist with AVIVA, Vitality and Healix. Insured patients need to obtain an authorisation code from their insurance company and bring it, together with their membership details (policy or membership number), to the consultation.

Do I need a referral?

No. Dr Bucur sees adults aged 18 and over.
Are there conditions Dr Bucur does not assess?
Dr Bucur does not undertake specialised assessments or make treatment recommendations for autistic disorders, substance misuse or eating disorders.

No. Dr Bucur currently works part-time in the private clinic setting. Patients who need intensive support, or who present with an elevated level of risk, are advised to consider other clinical services that are more appropriate for their urgent needs and care.
