Harbour TableHarbour Table (sample business) · live demo · in design review

Saltmarsh Quay, Brixham

The morning's catch, by the evening's tide.

A forty-cover dining room on the harbour wall, cooking what the day boats bring in.

Sample restaurant. Your times, menu and suppliers replace every line.

Service times change with the season and the catch.

  1. 12:00Lunch from the morning catch, until the fish runs out
  2. 15:00Oysters, crab and a glass on the terrace
  3. 18:00Dinner, first sitting: the full tasting of the day
  4. 20:30Second sitting, à la carte
  5. 22:00Last orders: cheese, something sweet, a nightcap
A cook laying out the day's fish on a long counter of ice, the quay and moored boats through the open door

Provenance

Six miles, at most.

Most of the menu is caught, grown or made within sight of the harbour. When the boats stay in, the menu shortens instead of buying in.

  • Fish from named day boats
  • Vegetables from two farms inland
  • Bread and ice cream made here every morning

From the journal

Notes from the quay.

  • Gloved hands filleting a sea bass on ice, samphire and lemon beside it and the harbour behind

    The morning's bass

Landed by seven, filleted by nine, on the board by noon.

  • The fish counter at the open front of the kitchen, the morning's catch on ice and the harbour boats behind

    The counter at the door

Come in off the quay and see what came in today.
